the future of this city looks brighter than ever. and all of you should know, and if you live here you certainly do, since mayor bowser took office, the city's schools have improved. the city's carbon emissions have shrunk. and the nationals even won the world series. wait, wait. when i was mayor of new york, the record shows the yankees won the world series. and the giants won two super bowls versus the new england patriots. but no new york team has won since i left. a coincidence? just sayin', just sayin'. no, you've got a good mayor. the white house, i hadn't thought about that, we're in washington, yeah, i like that. it's a little bit early to measure the curtains, but that's okay. now, there are two elected executives in washington, the mayor and the president. but only one of them really understands what it means to lead on issues that matter to communities across america. like economic opportunity, sustainability, safe streets, good schools, equal rights, and affordable housing. and that's mayor bowser. [ cheers and applause ]

sanctuary city. that gives me a lot of pause and we're going to have to reconsider the degree to which this department is going to work with these departments if they can't as a law enforcement agency respect our local laws, our policies, and our city. and i thought it was extremely disrespectful of the u.s. attorney to do that with you there present. i thought the department got used like a prop to push the trump administration's agenda. i'll be very clear that if anything like this happens again or continues, i'm going to push to terminate relations with the federal government because this is cheap politics and taking advantage of what otherwise -- you know, i have no qualms with working together with other agencies. but when you start attacking our city like that, you've lost your right to speak in that forum and with our department. i thought that was disturbing and i hope i don't see that again. >> i have a couple things on the budget. you were talking about long medical -- having prolonged medi
